During the oral presentation of the work “First data on Endogaean fauna of olive orchards in Crete, Greece”, the objectives of the Life IGIC project was presented as well. Namely, the establishment of green infrastructure in olive orchards (conventional and organic) that we expect to improve the olive orchards from an agronomic point of view (e.g., yields, farmer income, absence or low presence of residues in olive products, enhancement of functional biodiversity which consists of the natural enemies of the pests as also by decomposers – recyclers) as well as from an ecological point of view, as total biodiversity, settlement of new species for the area that were absent from the olive groves, especially vertebrate species (e.g., amphibians, birds etc.) and the synergistic positive actions to the nearby Natura areas. Initial results regarding the endogaean fauna were presented.
